The Kano state government has revealed why the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, met with some of the Igbo leaders in Kano on Wednesday, September 13.
The director general of Kano state media and communications Salihu Yakassai said the governor’s meeting with the leaders from the southeast was aimed at assuring the Igbo living in the state of his commitment to peace and stability in Kano.
Yakassai in a tweet said: “H.E @GovUmarGanduje just finished a meeting with Igbo leaders in Kano to reassure them of his admins commitment to peace/stability in Kano.”
Naijaloaded earlier reported that Governor Ganduje revealed what will happen to Igbos living in the north.
The governor said all the Igbos living in Kano state will be totally protected from any hate or violence that may arise.
Ganduje’s declaration following a quit notice issued to Igbos living in the north by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG).
The group during a press briefing termed the Kaduna Declaration warned all Igbo to vacate the region by October 1.
But the Kano state governor maintained that every resident in the state was an indigene of Kano.
He also said that his administration had already abolished the indigene/settler dichotmy to enable it run the affairs of the state.
